English-Devnagri Translation etc
Listening to vol 1 from Siddhi. One of the finest renditions of Miyan Ki Todi by Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. I wanted to read the lyrics of "Eri Mai Aaj" - the Chota Khayal. Searched on Google. But could not find any.
There is a need to archive all the lyrics on the Net. They need to be searchable in Devnagari as well as in Latin Characters. Google probably is not capable of searching in Devnagari (although it can display results in it). But it should be searchable with some extra meta characters added so that "Eri Mai Aaj" can be found by typing "Ari Maai Aaj" or "Aeri Maai Aaj".
Thinking about this, there are two related topics:
- What will happen to Human Computer Interfaces - especially with native languages? Can it be easy to type in Devnagri? Can you use Latin terminals for that? If so, is there a standard mapping? If not, can it be developed? I guess I will post this on some forum. I have heard of some projects that have done it before - especially with Hindi Film Music.
- How can we archive all the lyrics of Indian Classical Music? There is a large collection out there right now. What will the musicians of our time think about this?

I will sure try that.
Thanks for the tip.

Hi,
Yes there is a serious need to archive all the lyrics and also their translation online. I have recently started a blog where I am putting down lyrics of select works. I might be putting down the ones for eri maai aaj too...
